Last night at Solid Rock Youth we were moving along in a series on stories. This series has been a little different than some we've done whereas its been mostly special guests sharing their stories. Last night was my story - although a small part. Two weeks ago we had Bill Davenport, the director of the Valley Care Pregnancy Center speaking about chemical reactions in our brains when we 'fall in love.' Last week our guest was a grade 12 girl from a nearby high school who had become pregnant in grade 10 and had her baby adopted.
Last night I taught about the 5 Love Languages. We started with a video from YouTube, and then continued through learning about the word love. I taught the 5 greek words for love, and then the 5 love languages. We finished by the students taking a love lanauges test and studying 1 Corinthians 13 together in their small groups. From all reports, a good night.

Leipzig
We have a mission team of students and leaders heading to the Czech Republic and Germany this summer. In order to introduce our team to our congregation and other supporters we created a short video. Take a look:

Expansion Tours
As a staff at New Minas Baptist Church we meet every Tuesday afternoon. This weekly meeting gives us the time to all be in the same place for an hour or so and review, update and plan. Though I'm not a huge meeting fan usually, I look forward to gaining a sense of what's going on in our church outside of my own ministry portfolio.
As a new addition to our weekly meeting we now put on hard hats and head out to the building expansion area to take a tour of the progress over the previous week. Its exciting to see each day and each week how the building is progressing. Last week the builders put the first roof truss up, yesterday they put the remaining trusses on.
During our walk through yesterday we were able to stand in the area which will become our offices. We chose who would have each one. I scored the office closest to the kitchen, closest to the day care wing, and also the only office with a door straight across the hallway which leads into the large multipurpose room.
Each day as I drive in I am in awe of all that God is going at our church.

Age for Legal Sex Raised
What follows is the text from an article in the Halifax Chronicle Herald from yesterday.
Canada’s age of sexual consent will be bumped up two years to 16 beginning today
The change means adults who have sex with boys or girls aged 14 and 15 years old could face criminal charges.
Canada’s age of consent has been 14 since 1892.
The legislation was brought in by the Conservative government in part to deal with older internet predators who troll the web looking for younger victims.
Canada’s age of consent will now be in line with other countries, such as Britain and Australia, and most American states. The intent of the new law is not to criminalize teenage sex, but to crackdown on adults who prey on youth, former justice minister Vic Toews said when the bill making the change was introduced.
The law includes a "close-in-age" provision of five years, which means it would be legal for a 15-year-old to have relations with a 19-year-old provided the relationship is not exploitive and the older party is not in a position of authority or trust.
