Last night at Solid Rock Youth we held a special event to honor Todd & Carrie Jones. Todd & Carrie have been SRY volunteer leaders for more than a dozen years and are moving away from SRY to launch a brand new Young Adult Ministry for our church.
As a part of the commissioning event we read letters from several former students, former leaders, and parents saying thank-you to them for the impact that God has had on so many lives through them. We were joined by special guests: Kim, Judy & Anna Thomson who shared about the impact God in their lives through Todd & Carrie. We finished by praying for them and read scripture over them [Ephesians 1:15-23 & Philippians 1:3-11] as we commissioned them into their new ministry. We also gave them several gifts!
I think that this whole event was fantastic! It was great to say thank-you to some amazing people, to show our current students the impact that significant adults can have in their lives, and to show our current leaders the impact that they are having [but may not see for many years yet].
